Everybody’s growing up. Things go in boxes, diplomas go on walls, new jobs come and go. And the Earth just keeps throttling its way through space! How does anyone keep themselves sane with all of that going on? Where do you go when you can’t ignore it anymore?
We went to the studio.
We’ve been doing this whole “being in a band” thing for three years (yeesh) and yet, this time was different; life is different. Gone are the days of sitting around for hours on end and noodling around with whatever ideas come to mind. And so we resigned ourselves to put this project together in a piecemeal sort of way. TED is Frankenstein’s monster – cobbled together with what bits and pieces we could spare, and animated with all the energy we could muster.
TED is about love and loss; treasure and garbage; beginnings and endings; and most of all, TED is about friends. Don’t get it confused– these songs are not “profound” or “heady” or whatever. We’re just three guys, really. We don’t have all that much to say. But that’s sort of the point, isn’t it? We’re not special per say, and you aren’t either, but anybody can make something true. It just takes a little time and a lot of love. TED is about the way we see the world right now, with all of its horrifying imperfections and gut-wrenching beauty, and you probably see things very differently. All the better.
We’d like to pose a challenge to you, dear reader: go out and do it. Whatever “it” is to you! The time is now! You’re not getting any younger! Pick up your guitar or your brush or your pen or your skateboard or your protest sign or whatever and go do the thing. Most importantly: bring your friends along for the ride. It’s always a better trip when you share it. We found TED; who’re you going to find?
Finally, we would like to extend our undying gratitude and admiration to:
Every venue that has been gracious enough to host us
Every band that has ever shared a bill with us
Anyone who ever lent us a piece of gear
All the sound guys and gals
Eddie’s parents, for putting up with all the noise
Zoë Coz, who is a harmony wizard
Rachel Tarinelli, our incomparable resident artist
Cooper Robinson, who is an incredible bassist and an even better friend
And, of course, any single person who has ever been to any of our shows. Doesn’t even matter if you enjoyed it. You were there, and we remember.
We’re TED, and so are you.
Love,
Thom, Eddie and Dylan
